Kent fire and rescue attending a two-car collision near junction 3 of M2

A car has been completely destroyed by fire on a busy section of motorway in Medway.

Firefighters were called to the coastbound carriageway of the M2 between Junction 2, the A228 at Strood, and 3 for the A299 Chatham and Maidstone.

The blaze blocked the motorway leading to delays for other drivers.

Fire crews from Medway and Strood were called at 4.25pm this afternoon.

It is understood just one vehicle was involved and there are no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters left the scene at around 4.32pm and motorway traffic returned to normal just after 5pm.
