Traffic delayed as motorbike burns in New Road Chatham

Two fire engines were called to Chatham town centre this afternoon when a motorbike caught fire.

The blaze in New Road near its junction with Chatham Hill caused chaos for rush-hour motorists as police closed the road.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 4.36pm. Two fire engines attended the motorbike fire in New Road, Chatham.

"No other vehicles were involved."

The burned out wreck of the bike was left beside the road to await collection.

Police said there were no reported injuries.
