Pupils at Greenacre Academy in Walderslade Road, Chatham, organise battle of the bands event for local dancer

Young musicians are set to battle it out to be crowned the best band at a fundraising concert.

The Battle of the Bands competition at Greenacre Academy will see the youngsters take to the stage in front of a judging panel of industry specialists.

The pupils have been busy planning, organising and rehearsing for the event which takes place at the school in Walderslade Road, Chatham, tomorrow night.

After a rigorous auditioning process, 11 acts have made it through to the final live show.

Each act will have just two songs to impress the audience and the judges, who include music industry specialists and headteacher, Kerri Edge.

The top three acts will be awarded prizes which have been donated by local businesses.

The money raised will be split between upgrading the studios at the school, and towards sponsoring young dancer Ashton Canty, who hopes to compete in an international competition in America.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets are £2 for children and £3 for adults and can be purchased from the school.
