Gillingham draw Spurs in League Cup

Gillingham have landed a prize draw against Premiership giants Spurs in the next round of the League Cup.

It is a reward for Tuesday night's second round extra time victory away at Watford in the second round.

England’s elite teams enter at the third round stage, and the Gills have landed one of the top tier's big guns.

Gills' Goalscorer Mark Byrne had earlier said: “Hopefully we get a good draw. I want Manchester United away please.”

Spurs are a decent consolation prize!

The draw took place after the Accrington versus Burnley match on Sky Sports.

Round three games take place on week commencing September 19.

Gillingham were last in the third round during the 2005/06 season but after knocking Premiership side Portsmouth out in round two they lost to Doncaster in round three.
