Holcombe Ladies turned on the style in midweek with a performance that thrilled head coach Kevin Johnson.

Tuesday night’s 8-2 win over West Herts under the floodlights at Holcombe Park came just days after the team wrapped up the Conference East title.

Next season they will be playing national league hockey for the first time.

Johnson said: "We played some good, fast attacking hockey and it was probably the most potent, hungry attacking display of the season.

"It was good to see and we had a nice big crowd in as well. I was pleased, especially having already won the league and it was exactly what I was looking for."

Captain Lauren Osborne led the way with a hat-trick, while Megan Robertson and Jennie Hoyte both struck twice.

Holcs remain unbeaten in the league, having had a recent loss against Bedford overturned after their opponents fielded an ineligible player.
