Wartime hand grenade found in Seagull Road, Strood

Army bomb disposal experts were called following the discovery of a wartime hand grenade in a garage in Seagull Road, Strood.

Kent Police were first called at 12.05pm yesterday and notified the bomb squad after evacuating several nearby houses and closing the road.

Explosive experts attended and by 2.49pm the item had been removed from the scene.
