Increased reward for return of macaws stolen from the Fenn Bell pub, St Mary Hoo near Rochester

A landlord whose two macaws were stolen from his pub's self-styled zoo has increased his reward for their safe return to £10,000.

Andy Cowell, who runs the Fenn Bell at St Mary Hoo, near Rochester had initially offered £3,000 after thieves broke into his aviary.

But since then Mr Cowell has been inundated with well-wishers making donations to boost the reward money.

The pub's Facebook page has been viewed more than 1.1 million times and Mr Cowell said he has been contacted by "complete strangers" offering to help.

After the break-in last Sunday night, Mr Cowell posted cctv footage which showed the three intruders chasing the birds for 30 minutes before stuffing them into a bag and making off

One macaw is blue and gold and the other was a green wing, which despite its name, is mainly red.

Mr Cowell gave the thieves a deadline until 6pm on Tuesday to return the birds before publishing the raid.

He said this morning:"I am waiting to hear from the police I understand they are pursuing several lines of enquiry."
