M2 stretch London-bound between Gillingham and A229 blocked after crash

A stretch of the M2 was shut this morning because of wood blocking the carriageway after a crash.

It happened on the London-bound carriageway between J4 (Gillingham) and J3 (A229) at around 9.40am.

Kent Police said all traffic was held for around 10 minutes while emergency services are at the scene.

A spokesman said it received reports of two sheets of wood blocking two lanes .

Officers found a two-car crash and helped move the vehicles to the hard shoulder.

The carriageway was reopened by around 10.20am, freeing trapped traffic.

A crew from South East Coast Ambulance Service were called and one of the drivers was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.
