Reports of man carrying pepper spray during disturbance in Dalton Street, Gillingham

A man was reported to be carrying pepper spray during a disturbance involving six men in Gillingham.

Police were called at around 12.15am to Dalton Street after receiving calls about people carrying weapons.

When officers arrived, the suspects left the scene.

Officers say a search of the area was carried out and no weapons were found.

A moped spotted leaving the area was stopped nearby and two people were searched but no arrests were made.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 12.15am on Sunday, February 27, to a report of a disturbance involving around six men in Dalton Street, Gillingham, at least one of whom was said to be in possession of pepper spray.

"Those involved had left the scene upon police attendance and a thorough search of the local area was carried out.

"A moped believed linked to the incident was stopped nearby but no arrests were made.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
