Mezzone was taken to hospital, but during the journey he is said to have bit a paramedic and spat in their face.

Police spokesman, James Walker said: "Officers attended alongside British Transport Police and went on to stop a man, who is then reported to have assaulted two police officers and two ambulance service workers."

Reports of Kent Police officers being assaulted have increased during the national lockdown.
Chief Constable Alan Pughsley has also revealed there have been 104 instances of people spitting and coughing on officers during lockdown, more than double the figure from last year.

Tony Mezzone has been bailed and is due to attend Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 9.
