Mark Dunn charged with shoplifting at the Co-op in Walderslade Road and attempted burglary in High Street, Chatham.

A man has been charged with shoplifting and attempted burglary.

Mark Dunn allegedly stole four bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey and some beef joints, totalling nearly £140.

Police were called at 4.45pm on Monday to reports of shoplifting at the Co-op in Walderslade Road.

The 36-year-old was also charged in connection with an attempted burglary in High Street, Chatham.

Officers were called on Tuesday morning to a report that a man had been seen on the roof of First Choice Shoes just after midnight.

An alarm went off and the person left, leaving behind their ladder. It is believed the perpetrator was trying to break in to the row of shops in the area.

The shop is directly next to US News Agent, which has been raided four times in as many months.

Owner Mr Singh, 60, said: "It’s frightening, they keep coming back."

Dunn, of Luton Road,has been remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
