Vincent Shane charged with robbery and possessing samurai sword after attack in Great Lines Park

A 51-year-old has appeared in court accused of robbing a man of £1,200 while carrying a samurai sword.

Vincent Shane was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, robbery and possession of an offensive weapon, namely an adapted samurai sword, in a public place following an incident at 1pm on December 30.

Police were called after a man was attacked near Great Lines Park, Brompton.

Upon arrival the man was being treated by paramedics for a head wound.

He was then taken to a local hospital.

Police confirmed the weapon was allegedly used during the robbery.

A nearby property was searched and Shane was soon arrested.

Shane, of Luton Road, Chatham, appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on New Year's Day where he was remanded to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday, January 29.

No pleas were entered.
