Man rescued from kitchen fire in The Rise, Rochester, after he fell asleep

A man had a lucky escape when his friends rescued him from a house fire, after he fell asleep.

Firefighters were called to The Rise in Rochester at 8.20pm yesterday after cooking was left unattended in the kitchen.

One man had fallen asleep and his friends carried him from the building.

The house was smoke logged and two crews tackled the blaze.

The man was not thought to be seriously injured and was treated at the scene.
