Teenager charged after stabbing in Railway Street, Gillingham

A teenager has been charged after a stabbing in broad daylight.

Officers were called to an incident in Railway Street, Gillingham yesterday morning at 11.17am.

A man was taken to a London hospital with a stab wound where he remains in a stable condition.

Later the same day, Ahmed Moborat, of Byron Road, Gillingham was arrested in connection with the incident.

The 18-year-old was charged with wounding and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court today and was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on July 15.

PC Catherine Barker, of Medway CID, said: "Our officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are urging witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to call the appeal line.

"We are also asking motorists with dashcam and residents with private CCTV to check for footage around the time of the incident that may assist the investigation."
