Man's skull fractured in Gillingham assault

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man was left with a fractured skull and broken eye socket.

The 18-year-old Chatham man was released on bail for further enquiries until January 6 next year.

It comes after a 50-year-old victim was found in Garfield Road, at about 8.15pm last Tuesday night.

He was taken to Medway hospital where he was diagnosed as having four fractures to his skull and a broken eye socket.

The man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
