The scene of the crash in Rolvenden Road

A 61-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash in Tenterden last night (Friday).

The local man was driving a gold Skoda Fabia which collided with a grey Renault Laguna at 11.30pm outside the Esso garage in Rolvenden Road.He died at the scene.

The driver of the Laguna, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was treated for minor injuries and later released on bail pending further enquiries.

The road was closed until 4.45am today.

Officers from the police Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses.
