Commercial Road, Strood, flooded and causing delays on the A2

A main road in Strood is flooded and is causing delays for motorists travelling across Rochester Bridge.

Commercial Road, part of the one-way system in the town is flooded near to Strood Retail Park.

This footage taken by RB Photography @MrRBPhotography and posted on Twitter shows vehicles slowly driving through the flood water.

Medway Council also sent a tweet out to say traffic was slow on Commercial Road due to the flooding.

It is thought the high tide on the River Medway has breached the flood gates at the nearby Jane’s Creek.

One driver who got caught up in the tailbacks but didn’t want to be named, said: “I turn onto the A2 Rochester Bridge from the Esplanade and it normally takes about 10 minutes to get back to work.

"It took half an hour this afternoon.”
