Staff at a nearby pharmacy were some of the first to spot him.

Jane Rozee, 48, said: “We saw a little glimpse of him this morning as he turned up and walked into a caravan.

“We are all so excited. It's not everyday you see a celebrity. Who knows, maybe they will all pop in later to say hello.”

Peter ensured that during a break from filming he came and met his fans who had been waiting so patiently.

Self-confessed super-fan Tina Shaw, 55, from Gillingham said: “I am his biggest fan, I have seen him in loads on concerts and now i have finally got a selfie with him.”

“I’m all hot and flustered. It has made my day, what a perfect day to have off work.”

There were around 40 people working on the project, which was planned without the knowledge of the home owner.

They would have been put forward to receive the makeover by a friend or family member.

Management asked KentOnline not to reveal the exact location to keep the surprise under wraps.
