Police helicopter in chase to stop motorbike bike stolen from New Road, Chatham

A police helicopter was scrambled to help in the hunt for a suspected stolen motorbike.

The chopper was seen circling around the River Medway yesterday afternoon.

It comes after officers on patrol in New Road, Chatham, attempted to stop a suspected stolen motorbike at around 2.45pm.

The rider failed to stop and made off from patrols.

A police spokesman said: "A thorough search of the local area was carried out with assistance from a National Police Air Service helicopter but the vehicle was not located.

"Inquiries into the incident are ongoing."
