It became worse over time until it was spotted this morning it had collapsed inward and was surrounded by barriers.

A resident told KentOnline: “It has been going down for a couple of weeks then on Tuesday it had a puddle.

“I have not been out that way until this morning when I saw the hole.

“The road has been closed off around it so the authorities have come out to do that.

“This is the second time. The last repairs were done about Summer 2022.”

Medway Council has been made aware of subsidence and the area has been temporarily closed.

Access is in place for residents, and a temporary traffic order is being raised to formally close the road so work can take place.

No timings have yet been issued as to when it will be fixed.
