Although the TV stars joked they were “held hostage” in the camp over the weekend.

Actor Joe, of Eastenders and I am Celeb Get Me Out of Here fame, said in a social media clip that “the kids won’t let us go home”.

Stacey, who was an X Factor contestant in 2009 before carving out a name for herself in TV, explained how their children were behind their late departure from the site.

“Literally our kids do not want to leave”, she said. “They’ve been following round giant characters.”

The holiday destination had received an £18million makeover in April last year.

The revamp saw a 1,200-seater Marina Bar and Stage, a 100-seater terrace and a yacht club added to the park.

The project has also created more than 100 seasonal and permanent team roles.

It is part of a £170 million investment by the UK holiday operator across its 41 parks driven by a demand for staycations.

The Jump in the Adventure Village was a family favourite of the trip for Joe, who helped to reopen the site in August.

He added: “I tried out some of the new activities on the Adventure Village and would recommend The Jump – a six-metre fall onto a massive airbag – that will get your heart going.”

Stacey also took the jump and said she was trying to “play it cool” when she was actually “scared to death”.

She also confesses she was worried she wasn’t going to make her regular slot on ITV’s Loose Women panel the following day.

“I’m going, I’ve got to go. I can’t just not turn up.”

To which Joe replied: “No we’re staying her, we’re caravan people now.”
