Joseph Ashby-Gibbs, 18, of Millcroft Road, Cliffe charged with attempted murder after altercation in Buckland Road, Cliffe

A teenager has been charged with attempted murder, assault and grievous bodily harm following an "altercation" in a rural road.

Officers were called to reports a 28-year-old man had been seriously injured following the incident in Buckland Road, Cliffe shortly before midnight on Friday, October 28.

The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for various injuries and 18-year-old Joseph Ashby-Gibbs was arrested by police the following day.

Ashby-Gibbs of Millcroft Road, Cliffe, appeared before Medway Magistrates Court on Monday, October 31 and was remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, November 28.

He has also been charged with the kidnap of another person on Tuesday, October 18 in the same road, but it is not connected to the three other charges.

Investigating officers believe that a number of people were in the Buckland Road area at the time of the incident on October 28 and are urging anyone with information about the incident who has not yet spoken to officers to get in touch.
