Three charged over police assaults and racial abuse

Three men have been charged following assault and racial abuse offences against police officers.

The separate incidents happened over the course of the weekend in Gillingham, Rochester and Sittingbourne.

In the first, on Friday, Tunde Mayegun is alleged to have racially abused three officers in Gillingham.

The 21-year-old, of no fixed address, was also charged with possessing crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply.

He was due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.

Another man, Elvijs Daudzvards has been charged with assault after an officer was punched in the face in Rochester on Saturday, April 7.

The 29-year-old, of Harold Road in Sittingbourne, was also charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

He has been bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 8.

Meanwhile, Liam Pilcher is alleged to have racially abused an officer in Sittingbourne.

The 22-year-old, of Guernsey Way in Kennington in Ashford, was also charged with drink driving, driving without insurance, and criminal damage.

He has been released on bail to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 4.
