A crash on the M2 between Gillingham and Chatham causes delays for motorists

A three vehicle smash on the London-bound carriageway is causing delays for motorists this morning.

The police were called out to the motorway between the Gillingham turn-off, Junction 4 and the Chatham turn-off, Junction 3 shortly before 10am, to initial reports four vehicles were involved in the crash.

However, it was soon established three vehicles, a Rover and Audi and an MG were involved in the smash.

Three children and two adults were in one of the vehicles, but police said no one suffered any serious injuries during the accident, which closed two lanes of the carriageway and caused tailbacks for other motorists.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “The vehicles have now moved to the side of the road, but motorists are being advised to avoid the area.”
