Emergency services called to Godden Way, Gillingham, after stabbing

A man has appeared in court after an assault in Gillingham on Friday, June 20.

Air ambulance crews and police were called to Godden Way just after 11.30pm, following reports of a disturbance, and paramedics treated two men - aged 25 and 18 - for knife wounds at the scene.

The 25-year-old was taken to Kings College Hospital in London, where he was given stitches and kept in overnight as a precaution.

Andrew McIlvenny, 22, was arrested and charged with wounding with intent.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday and the case was sent to Maidstone Crown Court, where he will appear for a plea and case management hearing on Friday, July 11.

McIlvenny, of Five Ways Court, Chatham, was granted bail on condition that he wears a tag, stays indoors between 7pm and 7am and does not enter Gillingham.
