Two lanes of exit slip of London-bound M2 at Junction 3 for Chatham and Maidstone closed after car fire

Two lanes on a motorway slip-road were shut after a vehicle caught fire.

Traffic was queuing on the exit slip at Junction 3 of the London-bound M2 for Chatham and Maidstone due to the blaze.

A vehicle was engulfed in flames at the traffic lights on the slip-road where it meets the roundabout at Blue Bell Hill.

Traffic was still able to use the outside lane.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle well alight.

She added: "One fire engine attended and the crew used foam to put the fire out. There were no reported injuries and the cause is not known."

The route was cleared by about 6.40pm.
