Woman arrested after police called to Hempstead Road, Hempstead

A woman has been arrested for affray after emergency services were called to a busy main road following reports a woman had been injured.

Police officers found a knife at the scene in Hempstead Road, Hempstead yesterday and were searching for two men in connection with the incident.

A 43-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were arrested for affray. The woman has been bailed until Friday, September 16 whilst inquiries continue and the man was released without charge.

A police spokesman said: "It is not believed that any party connected to this incident has suffered serious injury."

It is understood that officers are still looking for the second man and are continuing to make inquiries to find out what happened.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance were called at 11.15am yesterday.

An air ambulance spokesman said they had been stood down and had not helped at the scene.

Lester Road in Chatham was also taped off by police and yesterday it was thought that the two incidents were connected.

It is no longer believed to be connected but inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.
