Woman arrested on suspicion of theft

A woman thought to be involved in a scam selling carpets was arrested after police seized more than 400 rugs from a house.

She was arrested following reports from people across the county including the Medway Towns saying they were coerced into buying rugs from her,

59-year-old from Maidstone, who has not been named, was arrested on suspicion of theft as part of an operation between Medway police and Medway Council's trading standards.

She has been bailed until Monday, November 30, pending enquiries.
