Woman mugged and dragged along ground by moped riders in High Street, Rochester

A woman was dragged along the ground as two men on a motorbike snatched her handbag as she walked home during the early hours of this morning.

The woman, who has not been named, was making her way back to her home near Rochester Castle, when the robbery happened shortly before 2am.

As the pair rode alongside her in the High Street, one of the men grabbed her bag and dragged her along the road for a short distance.

The woman eventually let go of her bag, which contained an iPad, iPhone and other belongings, as the pillion passenger on the bike - thought to be a moped - grabbed it.

Police say they are investigating the incident and want anyone who saw anything to contact them, but as yet no one has been arrested.

It is understood the woman has been left very shaken by her ordeal, but was not seriously injured.

James Walker, Kent Police spokesman, said: “The report was received at 1.56am this morning and stated the pillion passenger of a moped grabbed the woman’s handbag while she was walking.

“At present no arrests have been made however officers are conducting ongoing enquiries.”
