Chatham are considering drastic measures if the Football Association ask them to play Ryman League, Division 1 North football again next season.

The FA National Leagues committee are expected to announce the constitution of lower league divisions on Friday.

Chatham have been campaigning for several years at what they feel is an unjust decision to make them play in the northern section of the Ryman League.

Almost half of the southern section is made up of Kent teams and chairman Jeff Talbot believes denying them the chance to play derby matches is killing the club.

“We would have a number of options (if asked to play in the north),” said the Chatham chairman. “We would hold a meeting soon after to decide what we would do.

“We could decide not to play in the (Ryman) league and drop a level and play in the Kent League for example.

“We could look to go into administration or just pack it all in altogether. Those are our options. One of them is to play in the north, which isn’t fantastic.”
