Gillingham head coach Ady Pennock gives striker Greg Cundle chance to impress

Greg Cundle has been given another chance to stake a claim with the Gills.

The striker was on the bench at the weekend after being recalled from his loan deal at Bishop’s Stortford.

Cundle, 19, was supposed to finish the season with the National League South side but head coach Ady Pennock believes he still has something to offer Gillingham.

He said: “I have been impressed with Greg in training. He has not been getting as much time as we wanted at Bishop’s Stortford.

“In training, there is something about Greg that I like. He has got that something and he looks like he can score goals. He has that natural instinct, he was looking good in training and it was a no-brainer. I just wanted to bring him back.

“From now until the end of the season we need everyone on board. That is why I have got him in.”

Cundle has enjoyed several loan spells and has scored wherever he has been, netting three times during his latest spell.

Pennock said: “Even at Bishop’s Stortford, he has come on as a sub for 10-15 minutes and scored. There is something in that and he is a good kid as well, someone good to have around the place.”
