Justin Edinburgh flattered by Brentford speculation but manager remains fully committed to Gillingham

Table-topping boss Justin Edinburgh insists his mind is fully focused on the Gills.

A 3-1 win over Bury on Saturday took his Gillingham side back to the top of League 1 on Saturday.

Edinburgh’s impressive spell in charge at Priestfield hasn’t gone unnoticed and Brentford are the latest club being linked with the former Tottenham defender after he was recently linked with Premier League Aston Villa.

But Edinburgh isn’t getting fazed by the latest speculation, with national press reports suggesting he could take over at Brentford in the summer.

“I will never lose sight or take my eye off where I am employed and the job in hand,” he said.

“It is flattering and very nice but as a manager you will only get judged on your results and ours are very good right now."

Edinburgh joined the Gills in February and led the club to a comfortable mid-table finish.
This season his team have exceeded all expectations by topping the division for much of the campaign, despite going up against some big-spending opposition. He currently has an impressive 50% win ratio.

Edinburgh added: “If something was to happen, it will happen. That is football, you know it will.

“If someone wants someone they get them. Right now, this is where I am doing my work and where I am really enjoying it.”
