Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh insists there will be no let-up from his team.

With a quarter of the season gone the Gills have managed to sustain their place at the top end of League 1. It’s now Edinburgh’s job, as manager, to make sure they stay there.

He said: “It’s been a fantastic start, we are now in a pack, it’s a quarter of the season gone but it is about consistency and replicating things now.

“It is now more a case of not becoming complacent, about not thinking we are better than we are, or that we are comfortable and have it right. It is a different case of managing the group of players and being consistent.

“We are delighted and we are where we are on merit. The real challenge now is to maintain it.”

The Gills take on League 1’s bottom club Crewe on Saturday. The Railwaymen haven’t won a home game in the league all season but Edinburgh won’t be expecting an easy ride.

He said: “This league is wide open and week in, week out there are always results where people think ‘where did that come from?’ or ‘how did that happen?’.

“The inevitable will happen if you think you are already going to be collecting the points. As players and staff, we certainly won’t have that mentality.”
