Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton enter the EFL Cup second round draw along with Gillingham

Chelsea and Liverpool are among the teams going into the EFL Cup second round draw on Wednesday night.

Gillingham booked their place in the next round with a 3-1 win at Southend United on Tuesday night.

The draw for the next round takes place on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports News following the Aston Villa-Luton Town game.

Manager Justin Edinburgh praised his side’s resilience after overcoming a double injury blow.

The Gills are joined in the draw by all of the top-flight teams who are not competing in European competitions.

Thirteen teams – including Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton – will be seeded, along with Championship side’s Newcastle and Norwich along with 10 first-round winners.

Any team drawing Liverpool away would have the game switched to their own ground due to works taking place at Anfield and a suitable compensation agreement with the Premier League club will be made.

Gillingham's win did come at a cost on Tuesday night with star man Bradley Dack limping off injured. Click here for the latest.

Gillingham made it to the second round of the competition last season, losing 2-0 to Birmingham City.
