Gillingham have confirmed their friendly with League 2 side Colchester United.

The match will take place at the Weston Homes Community stadium on Friday, July 28, with a 7.30pm kick off.

It means the Gills will be playing back to back games in Essex that week, with a trip to Canvey Island scheduled for the Saturday.

The confirmation of the friendly finalises their pre-season fixture list, which starts with a game at Faversham on Friday, July 7.

Ady Pennock’s Gillingham team will then travel to Dartford on Tuesday, July 11 before heading to Dover on Saturday, July 15.

A game at Chatham takes place on Tuesday, July 18 to mark the unveiling of the Southern Counties East club’s new floodlights.

Gillingham host Championship side Ipswich Town at Priestfield on Saturday, July 22 and welcome Belgian side Patro Eisden three days later.

The double header in Essex completes their pre-season before the season kicks off on Saturday, August 5 at Doncaster.
