Gillingham's relegation rivals Wimbledon, Fleetwood and Morecambe are in League 1 action tonight as boss Neil Harris watches weekend opponents Wycombe

Gillingham manager Neil Harris will be on a scouting trip tonight but will have one eye on results elsewhere.

It’s a busy night of League 1 action with seven games taking place, including one that could have an impact on Gillingham’s position in the table.

The Gills are two points and one place outside of the relegation zone but the two teams below them, Morecambe and Wimbledon, have a game in hand which they play tonight. Fleetwood are the team above Harris' men and they have two extra games to play.

Those teams around the Gills have been struggling for results and the Gills will hope that continues during the midweek round of fixtures.

Harris, who will be watching weekend opponents Wycombe at Cambridge, said: “We can’t control what happens with results elsewhere, we have to take care of our own business and we have done extremely well with that mentality and focus so far. I know that come 5pm on Saturday we will be in a lot healthier place with four games to go than when I first took over with 18 to go.”

But while Harris and his assistant boss David Livermore are keeping a keen eye on Wycombe, he admits he’ll be like any other fan, saying: “We’ll obviously have one wandering eye on results elsewhere and it is impossible not to because we are football people, we care and we want to be successful.”

Wimbledon are at home to Charlton tonight while Fleetwood host Lincoln City. Morecambe’s home game against Oxford United will be a key one. A win for Morecambe would see them leapfrog the Gills, knocking them back in the bottom four.

Bottom side Crewe, 12 points adrift of the Gills and safety, are at MK Dons and it would take some kind of miracle for them to stay up now.

Gillingham host play-off chasing Wycombe on Saturday with five games of their season remaining.
