It’s the third game in succession that has been called off because of Covid infections.

Gillingham had to call off games against Crewe and Ipswich Town and now the Addicks have been hit with problems.

Charlton say that “taking into account positive Covid-19 cases and injuries in the squad, the club does not have a sufficient number of players available in order to fulfil the fixture.”

The postponements do mean that it gives the Gills should have a stronger team out to face those teams as several players are coming back from injury.

Ipswich will be heading to Priestfield on the rearranged date of Saturday, January 8. The games at home to Crewe and at Charlton are yet to be rescheduled.

Gillingham’s next match will be on Saturday, January 1, at MK Dons. Their last game was on December 11, losing 2-1 to Fleetwood Town.
