Gillingham kick off their pre-season schedule on Tuesday night at Folkestone.

A full Gills first team will be heading to the Fullicks Stadium for Frankie Chappell’s testimonial match.

Chappell, 26, has made almost 400 appearances for Invicta since joining the club from Gills in 2007.

Gillingham have been back training for a week and this will be their first taste of competitive action since beating Notts County at the end of last season.

Boss Justin Edinburgh has added new faces to the squad, including strikers Rory Donnelly and Ben Williamson, and all of his new signings are expected to be involved.

German defender Max Ehmer will also be in action, having just agreed a three-year permanent switch from Championship side QPR.

Edinburgh plans to name two sides, one in each half, for Gills’ first two matches. The second pre-season test comes on Saturday against Tonbridge Angels.

Following those games they head to Le Touquet for a six-day training camp.

Included in the Invicta team will be forward Josh Stanford, who spent time on trial at the Gills last season.

Stanford featured for Peter Taylor’s Gillingham team last season in the friendly at Folkestone, which the League 1 side won 3-1.

Prices for the match are £5 for adults and concessions and £2 for under 16s.
