“It has been a fantastic week,” said Edinburgh.

“There was a little doom and gloom around the football club from the outside, not from within, because of the end we had to last season. It was tough and there were hangovers within the players.

“But a lot of credit has to go to the chairman over this last week. He has allowed and worked hard to bring Jay Emmanuel-Thomas into the football club, along with Jamie O’Hara and Josh Pask, and the confidence has come through the team.

“It has been a fantastic week for the football club. My staff, my players, the chairman and everyone connected with the football club can be very proud.”

Edinburgh will be hoping Saturday’s win finally rids them of any reminders from that finish to last season, which included four straight home losses.

He said: “I can’t drag last season into this one, that is irrelevant. What happened last year happened, and we have won three out of three. I want to look forward."
