Gillingham's on-loan man Adam Chicksen makes his debut against Leyton Orient in League 1

Loan defender Adam Chicksen makes his Gillingham debut against Leyton Orient.

And the left-back is determined to show Championship side Brighton what they’re missing.

Chicksen is on loan at Gills for a month from Brighton.

“It is a great game to come into,” said the 24-year-old, who played three games for Orient on loan in January 2012.

“Having been on loan there before it gives me a little extra boost to play against them.

“I had a good spell there and I will be fired up for this one. Hopefully we will get a good result.

“(I was told) I needed to come here and prove why I should be in the Brighton team. I want to do that, to prove I should be playing there, so you (Gills) are going to get the best out of me.”

Chicksen trained with his new team-mates on Friday.

“The lads looked good in training, they play the ball and pass it and it’s something I want to come into,” he said.

“The lads seem positive and seem upbeat. It seems like I have come into a good group of lads and lads who seem confident. They pass the ball well and I am very happy.”

Chicksen will get to play alongside one of his former team-mates on his debut. He and Brennan Dickenson played together at Brighton.

“He is a great talent,” said Chicksen.

“It should be a good partnership if I get to play with him. We both have good pace, good youth and we can build that partnership and get the team firing.

“I love to get forward and also I love to defend. I am a defender first and foremost but I love to be up and down the pitch all game. I’ll be giving 100%.”
