Max Ehmer could have played his last game for Gillingham.

The QPR loanee was an unused substitute on Saturday at Port Vale and his deal expired after the game.

Until a new boss is appointed, any player deals will done by the caretaker management team of Andy Hessenthaler, Steve Lovell, Mark Patterson and Darren Hare.

“We will discuss it and when we’ve made our decisions everyone will know,” said under-18 boss Lovell after Saturday’s game.

“In the meantime we have to get over this one. We will sit down and discuss things and when we come in Monday we will be ready to go again for a massive game (against Bristol City in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy) on Tuesday.”

While Ehmer’s deal has expired, discussions have already opened with fellow QPR player Michael Doughty.
