Medway Area Sunday League round-up (05/02/23)

Premier Division leaders Medway Sport made it eight wins out of eight to move 11 points clear at the top of the table.

Aaron Lorentson, Tommy Davey and Paul Williams all scored as Medway Sport defeated second-placed Chatham Town SR 3-1.

Quested, in third, also have a 100 per cent record but have played just four league games. Curtis Ripley, two penalties from Ethan Stewart and Frazer Rogers saw Quested defeat Cliffe Woods Colts.

James Hitchings and Liam Ogle were on the scoresheet for Borden Park Wanderers in their 2-1 win over Bells, Guba Gill replied.

Lowly Anchorians Athletic were edged out by Division 1 leaders Ordnance Athletic, Conor Halsey's goal not proving enough in a 2-1 defeat.

Jack Beggs (3), Harvey Brown (2), Morgan Beer, George Cowdrey, Gabriel Luckhurst and Tom Ball were all on target in Star Meadow’s 9-2 victory over Swallow Rise 93, who replied through Kane Parkes and Charlie George.

In Division 2, Bredhurst were shaded 5-4 by Pentagon. Clayton Selway, Roman Makula, Alfie Buckley and Ayomide Adeniran scored for Bredhurst but Ryan Brightwell's four-goal haul and Jack Thompson proved decisive.

Division 3 leaders Swanscombe Tigers hit six goals without reply against The Stag thanks to Scott Goodrich (2), Daniel Ginno, Andel Domi, Brandon Uings and Jack Godfrey to make it 10 wins out of 10 this season.

They now lead by five points after second-placed Medway Knights were held to a 2-2 draw by Pegasus 81. Jay Vincent bagged a brace for Medway but Pegasus 81 replied with two penalties, one from Swayze Whale and the other from John Oliveira.

Swallow Rise 93 Reserves dropped league points for the first time this season as they drew 2-2 with Rainham Eagles in Division 4. Lloyd Morris and Callum Leonard scored for Swallow.

In Division 5, Connor Gruber (2), Ryan Rogers, Martin Gittens and Brandon Campbell were on target for Minster Village in their 5-0 win against AEI Sports Sundays.

Kent Marina Sharks lost 10-1 to Strood. Louis Stone (2), Alex Longhurst (2), Tom White, Devante Leslie, Jack Harper, Mitchell Rose, Billy-Kane Young and Omar Ophta did the damage.

Liam Germano netted for Medway Soccer Academy but they went down 2-1 to New Road Athletic.

Ainsley Linton and Eddie Pattenden saw Cliffe Woods Colts Reserves through to the next round of the Senior Charity Cup, 2-1 against Cuxton 91 for whom Emmanuel Usuah netted.

Dan Sharkey, Danny Perrier (2) and Adam Shepwash (2) were on target for Wigmore in a 5-3 triumph over Medway Invicta, whose scorers were Samuel Shobandea (2) and Michael Hurcomb.

In the Junior Charity Cup, Cantium were shaded 4-3 by Eagles Gold despite goals from Adam Norris, Harry Whitehead and Branden Hooper.

Tom Powell and Ashley Turner scored for Cross Park but they went down 4-2 to Medway Rovers 20, John Oliveira and a Alex Ellis hat-trick doing the trick.

Hempstead United had George Petrie (2), Tom Arnold, Harry Hatton, Connor Stickings and Matt Dinsmore to thank for a 6-1 victory over Gillingham Town, Jonny Gleason replying.

In the Junior Charity Trophy, Palmerston Athletic lost 6-0 to Milton & Fulston Zebras whose goals came from Jack O’Neil (4), James Gough and Arry Harris.

Springhead Park were 6-1 up at half-time and finished 10-1 winners against Rochester Eagles, with goals from Ben Cable (5), Ryan Emblem (3), Jack Barton and Aaron Jones.

Sam Knights' goal was not enough for Your Move Chatham as they lost to a brace from Alex Carter of Bredhurst Juniors Rangers.

In the Junior League Cup, Kieran Wells scored both goals in AFC Shorne’s 2-0 win at Cliffe Woods Colts A.

Matt Bright, Charlie Overton and James Saffery (2) saw London Road to a 4-1 Junior League Trophy victorv over Tunbury Athletic, who replied through Darrell Lewis.
