Invicta Dynamos travel to Streatham on Sunday in NIHL South Division 1 | They return to action after losing to Slough Jets in their previous game

Invicta Dynamos are looking to bounce back from defeat this Sunday - but so are their hosts.

Reigning champions Streatham slipped up at Oxford last time out, while the Mos had the weekend off, forced to sit on a 5-2 home defeat against Slough Jets from the week before.

Karl Lennon’s side return to the ice to face a Streatham team who will no doubt be smarting from a loss of their own and keen to reinstate their position as NIHL South Division 1 top dogs.

Lennon said: “I am sure they will be upset by that performance and we will probably feel the wrath of that, but is there a better time to play them when that happens? I don’t know.

“They have been sitting on their loss for a day or so, we have been sitting on it for a week or so, and we are definitely eager to get back out on the ice.”

The Mos will take confidence from a 4-2 win at Streatham in a well-contested pre-season encounter.

Lennon said: “They are a very strong side, especially at home, it was hard to go there and get a result but we managed to.

“Going there again this weekend the players can take some confidence in the fact that they have done it already, which is good, but it means nothing in pre-season, now is the time for really showing up and getting what we can from the game.”

Lennon wasn’t happy with his side’s performance against Slough in their last match but had the chance to watch them again during his team’s weekend off, as a win for them at Chelmsford took them top.

He said: “Slough were actually behind for the majority and then pulled it back to win 7-5 so are sitting pretty at the top and it makes our result not look as bad, but ultimately we know we didn’t perform very well against Slough. If we perform well we can match anyone in this league, I have no question of that.

“It is just consistency is key for us. I took that game to learn, to listen, to understand what is going on from both sides.

“In games we played against both of those teams they presented us problems at points in the game. When you are in the game it is hard to get that perspective and where the challenges lay. To watch as an observer was very interesting and I picked up a lot.”

Lennon, in his second season as head coach, added: “I am critical and harsh on my own self, let alone the team, and I know I can do things better. I am sure they know they can do things better too.

“The reality is that we are five games in, not 30, that is when it matters.

“Now it is important to pick up wins when we can but we have a number of new players, new systems some of them are learning, we also have this balance of playing teams in a very competitive league where bottom of the table Oxford have just beaten the team at the top.”
