Hollands & Blair 4 Lordswood 3 match report

Hollands & Blair's long wait for a Southern Counties East League Premier Division finally came to an end on Saturday.

Blair edged a thrilling seven-goal derby against rivals Lordswood at Star Meadow - coming back from 2-0 down before surviving a late rally from the visitors.

It was Blair's first win of the season, although they remain bottom of the table, still four points adrift of Rochester.

Lordswood appeared to be cruising to victory as they raced into a two-goal lead inside just six minutes.

Jordan Gallagher scored against one of his former clubs after three minutes, an advantage doubled when Jordan Wells crossed for Helge Orome to convert from close range.

It could have been more as Bradley Webb's long-range shot clipped the top of the bar with keeper Louis Lawler beaten.

But then Lordswood pressed the self-destruct button and Blair took full advantage with some excellent finishes.

An error let in James McDonald and his cross-shot was converted at the far post by Ed Morant on 19 minutes.

A minute later it was 2-2 as Lewis Taylor's brilliant through ball picked out Dave Raggett, who took full advantage of a slip by keeper Ryan Chandler to convert.

The comeback was complete on 26 minutes when Blair went ahead, leading scorer McDonald showing his class after Raggett's assist with a quality finish into the bottom corner.

Blair lost McDonald to injury before the break but Lordswood lost their discipline after the interval as the hosts extended their lead.

Charlie Plummer disputed a free-kick, and when it was delivered into the penalty area by Austin Edwards, Blair's Steve Dampier's brilliant looping header at the far post put the home side 4-2 ahead on 55 minutes.

Lordswood seemed to lose their way and failed to create much in front of goal. It wasn't until four minutes from time that they made it 4-3 when Lawler flapped at a long throw-in by substitute Tom Carter and Tom Wooldridge scored from close range.

Another long throw caused Blair a few anxious moments at the death but they managed to see out five minutes of stoppages and end their long wait for a league victory.
