Steve Arnold has left Gillingham after his contract was mutually terminated.

The 28-year-old made just two appearances for the Gills after joining in the summer.

Arnold signed a two year deal in August but found himself second choice to Czech keeper Tomas Holy.

He was signed by former boss Ady Pennock - who also had him at Forest Green - after he had been released by Dover Athletic.

His two appearances came in the Checkatrade Trophy, in wins against Southend and Colchester.

Current manager Steve Lovell has preferred Stuart Nelson as back-up to Holy and he also has youngster Tom Hadler on the club's books.

A Gills statement said: "The club would like to thank Steve for his services while at Priestfield and we wish him well for the future."

The club have also confirmed that midfielder Jesse Starkey has left, making just one substitute appearance during his spell at the Gills. He has most recently been on loan at Worthing.
