Gillingham players are tested after returning to training ahead of the 2017/18 season

Gillingham players faced a series of health checks after their summer breaks ended on Friday.

The squad was tested by members of the University of Kent’s Sports Science department.

Gills’ players returned in two groups and among the newcomers for the morning sessions – which was attended by KM Media photographer Steve Crispe – was new signings Alex Lacey and Gabriel Zakuani.

The Gills will be heading to Northern Ireland on Sunday for the start of a week-long training camp.
