The Shouting Men: Gillingham defender Ryan Jackson writes exclusively for the KM Group

We were pleased with the point against Millwall and it was a good performance.

But right now we know we need more points than performances. If it means winning ugly, then we will take that.

I have never experienced a relegation battle before. It is a different situation for me
but I am trying to embrace it, get used to it and overcome it.

We don’t want to get relegated and need to work hard, stay together.

The fans can make a difference and if you know you have them behind you, cheering you on, it brings a positive feel around the whole place. Everyone feels positive and you can drive forward.

On Saturday it was a good atmosphere. If that can happen again on Friday, then that is a bonus.

I felt I had a good game on Saturday but we couldn’t get the win.

We know we needed all three points against Millwall but we got one and hopefully we can build on it for Friday and go from there.

I don’t look at the table too much, I try and focus on one game at a time. I know where we are and focus on the task ahead.

We need to overcome Bristol Rovers, get three points there and then we go to Charlton.
It’s a busy period over Easter but that’s the job we do. There’s not a lot of rest but we just have to keep going.
