Scott Wagstaff is closing in on his Gillingham debut.

The former Charlton and Bristol City midfielder has yet to play a competitive game for the Gills after picking up an injury in pre-season.

Wagstaff was signed on a free transfer following his summer release from Ashton Gate but suffered a calf injury in the game at Billericay.

Boss Justin Edinburgh could have Wagstaff available against Bradford on Saturday.

Edinburgh said: “He is back in full training and started that last week. It is a progression now.

“If things go to plan with his training programme and he continues to train well then it looks like we will be able to bring him into the squad on Saturday.

“That is another boost for us. He will give us energy and quality and Scott, coming to a new club, will be desperate to come and prove his worth.

“He is a great acquisition to bring into the squad and I am delighted.”
