George Williams, on loan at Gillingham from Fulham, is called up by Wales manager Chris Coleman

Gillingham loan player George Williams has been called up for international duty by Wales.

The attacking midfielder has been named in the squad for matches against Northern Ireland and Ukraine.

Wales host Northern Ireland on March 24 in Cardiff and travel to Ukraine four days later.

Williams’ call-up means he will miss Gillingham’s Bank Holiday Monday trip to Bury.

The 20-year-old has been with the Gills since mid-February after joining on loan from Fulham.

He has started Gillingham’s last three games, covering for injured Bradley Dack, making four appearances in total.

Williams was part of Wales’ squad for their European championship qualifying campaign, before injury ruled him out of the final crucial matches. He still hopes to win a place in the squad for the finals in France this summer.
