STARS from some of television’s favourite sitcoms will be appearing at this year’s KM War and Peace Show.

Forces’ favourite Dame Vera Lynn confirmed recently she would be attending the popular event, held at the Hop Farm Country Park in Beltring, Paddock Wood, in support of her charity SOS - Stars against Cerebral Palsy.

Now it has been announced that stars of BBC TV’s Dad’s Army and It Ain’t Half Hot Mum are to join her in helping to raise the profile of the charity, by attending the five-day event, which attracts thousands each year.

Following Dame Vera’s appearance at the Glenn Miller Night on Friday, July 23, stars from Dad’s Army will visit on the Saturday (July 24) and It Ain’t Half Hot Mum guests will meet visitors on the Sunday (July 25).

Dad’s Army is currently enjoying something of a resurgence in popularity, after being featured in the Britain’s Best Sitcom competition recently, with comedian Phil Jupitus speaking in its favour.

Four characters from the show - Mrs Fox (Pamela Cundell) Warden Hodges (Bill Pertwee), Rev Richard Farthing (Frank Williams) and Private Frank Pike, played by EastEnders star Ian Lavender - will be attending in costume. They will appear in the arena and sign autographs for visitors.

On Sunday, July 25, characters from It Ain’t Half Hot Mum written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, will be visiting the show.

Gunner “Gloria” Beaumont, played by Melvyn Hayes and Captain Ashwood, played by Michael Knowles, will be on hand to greet visitors.

The KM War and Peace Show runs from Wednesday, July 21 to Sunday, July 25.
